OUR HISTORY

I.N.R. Beatty founded his company in 1895 in Morris, Illinois. Since that date we have witnessed 20 presidents, one Great Depression, two World Wars and uncountable competitors in our successful drive to become one of the main building material suppliers in the greater Chicagoland area.

As the country has changed, so have we. We have evolved from the early lumber yards — heated by a potbelly stove, delivery trucks powered by true “horsepower,” and cash transactions conducted out of a cigarbox — into our current modernized material centers. We’re multi-locational and fully computerized — from purchasing to sales to receivables — and are poised to handle all your business needs as we proceed into this new century.

We offer a complete package of building materials, at competitive pricing, and backed by our staff of experienced personnel. We are not the “new kid on the block;” we are proud of our reputation, our longevity, our improvements, and our commitment to quality products and service.

Fort Poli Millwork was founded in 1965 in Lemont by two partners who named the business after themselves, William Erfort and Ted J. Policandriotes. After 25 years as a small family operated business, it was purchased by I.N.R. Beatty Lumber following the death of Mr. Erfort (who had earlier bought out Mr. Policandriotes). The name of the millshop has been retained due to the excellent reputation established by the partners.

In 1990,Beatty Lumber relocated the facility to its present site in Mokena, and in 2006 extensively remodeled the office and showroom.

Together with Beatty Lumber, and the knowledgeable staffs of both companies, we can now fully service the needs of our customers from the framing package up through the interior trimwork. Fort Poli Millwork has become an integral part of Beatty Lumber’s
professional contractor business plan.

In 2003 Beatty celebrated the opening of our new Beecher store, and in 2007, we replaced our Orland Park store with our new “state of the art” facility at Joliet. With this new 10 acre lumberyard, Beatty Lumber can enhance our quality service to this rapidly growing segment of the southern Chicagoland market.

Beatty lumber continues to expand and grow, something we are sure would make old I.N.R. proud. He might not recognize his company in this day and age, but he would surely know us by our continued commitment to his ideals of quality products and service at competitive prices.
